Donate to the resale and thrift store
5 A’s has a great resale and thrift store located at 632 Wood River Ave., in Wood River (right across from Wood River Pool.) The hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. All your donations are tax deductible and all proceeds are used for the benefit of animals.
Join the “special friends” of the animals of 5 A’s
Our group of special friends pledge to send monetary donations to the shelter once a month all year long. This monthly giving program plays a very important part in the budget of the shelter as it is a permanent stream of income. The amount that is sent can be any amount that will fit into the budget of the “special friend”.
Tribute and memorial gifts
Honor a special person or animal companion by making a tribute gift in his or her name. A tribute gift will help you celebrate those whose memories fill your heart or whose presence fills your own life. Plaques will be placed on sections of fence… Surrounding the shelter with love…on cages holding the animals. $100.00 donation for a section of fence. $1,000.00 donation for a cat condo or dog run.
Special occasion & life celebration gifts
For birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, remembrances; donations can be made to the shelter. If there is an occasion that comes up and you just don’t know what to get …this may just be the answer. We also have been the recipient of whole birthday party gifts when the card said “no gifts please”, they instead dedicated the party to the animals of 5 A’s!
Memorial gifts.
Few things are harder than loosing a loved one, whether human or animal! Honor that loved one by designating 5 A’s as the memorial in the obituary. If you choose to send your own personal memorial we have memorial cards at the shelter that can be sent to the individual or delivered to the funeral home in their honor. If you want to stop by and take the card yourself, the donation cards are available during our regular hours. These cards are also available at most funeral homes.
 Bequests
Leaving the animals of 5 A’s a bequest in your will is a simple process and one that is favored by many of our supporters.
Other ways to leave the animals the gift of life.
Living trusts, charitable gift annuities, beneficiary of a life insurance policy are some other ways to donate. There are gifts of stock. Gifts of real estate, jewelry, artwork, motor vehicles, or other forms of property are welcome ways for you to help support the animals in the care of 5 A’s.

Schnucks Grocery Stores also have available eScrip cards where Schnucks will contribute up to 3% of your purchase amount at no extra cost to you. Ask for the eScrip card at the service desk and call in and activate the card to the benefit of 5 A’s. After that all you have to do is present the card to the cashier every time you shop at Schnucks and you will help the animals. Macy’s also has the same type of program for their credit cards.
5A’s welcomes you to visit the shelter where staff will explain how you can help the animals and pick up your eScrip card. With the needed information we will be happy to register the card for you and it will be ready for your use within 24 hours. There are also forms available to add 5A’s to your Macy’s credit or Visa card.
